u.s. flag Tuesday, February 27th, 11:00 AM at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter,RI will be the service with military honors for Jack Franzen.

John "Jack" Farrell Franzen, 89, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2024 with his loving family by his side. John was born in Evanston, IL on January 11, 1935, the son of Vernon and Elinor (Nee Flannery) Franzen.

John attended a Military High School in Wisconsin and earned a full basketball scholarship to Michigan State College where he studied Hotel Management. John joined the Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1958 transferring to the NSA. Upon returning to the USA, he managed hotels throughout the states, his last being the Holiday Inn in South Kingstown, RI. John then owned and operated the Dockside Restaurant in Westerly, RI.

John was an avid reader, gardener, basketball fan and dog lover. He was a friend of Bill W for 43 years.

John leaves behind his sons, Thomas R. Franzin of Fallon, MO, George (Dawn) Franzin of Columbia, MO and his grandson, Samuel Hunt Franzin of St. Louis, MO. He was predeceased by his son John Franzin of Columbia, MO. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Baby Girl and many friends.

Tuesday, February 27th, 11:00 AM at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, RI will be the service with full military honors for Jack Franzen.
